# Designer Usage 

The dashboard designer is used to make dashboard layouts.  

- Each dashboard is made up of [Dashboard Elements](docId:6VXAACvnliNDKdaV9ddVO) that are bound to specific data. 
- The Dashboard Designer provides an intuitive UI that facilitates data binding and shaping, and layout design. 
- Many of these normally complex tasks can be accomplished with a simple drag-and-drop operation, allowing you to start creating dashboards immediately.

## Open Designer 

Select "New" from the Dashboard ribbon to open the designed.
